1.
Adult & Child Classes
Incorporating the new and
structured Swim a Song theme, these classes are designed
for children from the age of 4months 3.5 years. Classes are designed
to encourage children to learn to be safe and confident in the water
whilst learning the introductory steps of swimming strokes. Instructions
are given by the use of adapted nursery rhymes & songs which make
the lessons fun for the children, the adults and the teachers. A great
introduction to the water.
2.Beginners
A class designed for children to gain confidence wearing armbands. They
will swim on the front and the back and learn to float (Learning to
swim) Swimming is taught through water games and loads of fun and
smiles.
3.
Advanced Beginner
Children in this class will still require arm bands
but will be able to float independently, jump in and get their faces
wet without any fear.
4.
Beginners Plus
Children are able to swim 5 metres unaided and without undue stress
and will start to learn conventional strokes.
5.
Improvers 1
Children will be able to swim 25 metres unaided in a relaxed manner.
The strokes will now start to become recognisable as Breaststroke, Front
crawl and Back crawl
6.
Improvers 2
Children will be expected to swim 100 metres comfortably. The strokes
will continue to be refined in this class. Butterfly will be introduced.
7.
Improvers 3
Children will be able to swim up to 300 metres. Their strokes will become
efficient and well co-ordinated with controlled breathing.
8.
Challenge
The
ASA Swimming Challenge Awards will be gained at this level. Pupils are
challenged to achieve targets for which they need an efficient performance
using a wide range of skills. Stamina is also an important factor in
this class.
9.
Master Class
This class has been introduced as the final step before children could
join a local a local swimming club. They will be working towards the
higher Challenge Awards and ultimately to the Complete Swimmer Award.
