Joan O’Sullivan, Swimtime’s Group Qualifications Manager since 2016, has won the Scottish Disability Sport Service to Sport Award, recognising 38 years dedicated to inclusive swimming.

At Swimtime, we are proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of our team members who make a lasting difference in the world of swimming. Today, our spotlight shines on Joan O’Sullivan, our Group Qualifications Manager, who has been part of Swimtime since 2016.

A Career Dedicated to Inclusion in Swimming

Joan has recently been awarded the Scottish Disability Sport – Service to Sport Award, recognising her remarkable contribution to swimming over the past 38 years. Throughout her career, she has inspired and motivated hundreds of swimmers with disabilities while also supporting and developing countless volunteers and coaches.

Her deep knowledge of swimming, combined with her unwavering passion for inclusion, has left a profound mark on communities across Scotland.

The Jets Swim Team Legacy

In 1987, Joan founded the Jets Swim Team in Kilmarnock as a referral rehabilitation programme. What began as a small, local initiative has grown into a vital programme that continues to help people across the West of Scotland, giving individuals the confidence and opportunity to thrive in and out of the pool.

An Award Well Deserved 

Joan’s recognition with this award highlights her dedication not only to the sport but also to breaking down barriers for people with disabilities. She embodies Swimtime’s core values of inspiration, community, and inclusion, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her guiding our qualifications and training.
